OpenChange and SOGo: The first interoperable and Exchange compatible groupware solution

For the last 2 months, the SOGo and OpenChange development teams have been working together on a proof of concept server code designed to change for real the way people use groupware solutions.

SOGo and OpenChange are converging. We are using the best of our technology to provide the first real Open Source and Microsoft Exchange interoperable groupware solution users have been waiting for:

OpenChange Server is a transparent and native Exchange replacement for Microsoft Outlook users working on top of Samba 4. With OpenChange, you don't need costly MAPI connectors anymore.

SOGo is a reliable groupware server with a focus on scalability and open standards. Let your Mozilla Thunderbird/Lightning, Apple iCal/iPhone, BlackBerry and now Microsoft Outlook users collaborate using a modern platform.

The following video shows the growing power of OpenChange and SOGo model:

E-Mails are stored on an IMAP server

Calendar and Contacts are stored in SOGo backend and edited through SOGo Ajax-based Web interface

Messages, events, tasks and contacts are directly exposed to Microsoft Outlook through OpenChange server and its mapistore storage component

In our effort to provide developers and OpenChange followers the best quality of services, we have finally decided to change our bug tracking system and move from trac to redmine. This new system provides a wiki (which may potentially replace existing wiki.openchange.org on long-term) and has forums enabled (which replaces the existing and buggy openchange website one).

All the tickets and milestones from trac have been migrated to the new service, however we have removed existing accounts for security reasons and kindly ask you to create new accounts on the new tracker.

Please also note that OpenChange forums have been recreated on the tracker and both links to the tracker and forums are available from openchange.org website menu. Depending on DNS propagation, tracker access may be a bit hazardous for the next 48 hours. You can access the tracker at the following address:

tracker.openchange.org or from the menu (Developer > Bug Tracker and Developer > Community Forum)
